Unicorns symbolize piety and virtue. Their close placement is designed to show all God's creatures, even "wild animals," can live in peace and harmony. Love and a generous portion of faith are added by the heart and tulips, repectively. Overall, this design provides piety, virtue, peace and contentment. It was the design often placed on the hope chests of young ladies.
